Focus on Management and Leadership Skills

3D Group offers customized professional development workshops for managers and other employees with a focus on management and leadership skills. If you have identified a specific development need common to a group of employees in your organization our consultants will work with you to develop a custom program to help your employees improve their skills, work better together, or create shared goals to improve results for the team.

It is common for group-wide development themes to emerge during the course of an assessment intervention, such as 360-degree feedback or engagement surveys, but often department leads already know the key issues for their team. For example, if your organization has a high proportion of first time managers, they may need help learning to delegate tasks that they previously did on their own. Often first time managers also have difficulty providing performance feedback and may struggle when they are promoted because they are unsure how to manage direct reports who were formerly peers. 3D Group’s 1–2 day workshop for first time managers can be customized to fit the specific issues facing your group.

Employee Development Workshop Process

Needs Analysis: The first step in developing your custom development workshop is to carefully analyze the need in your specific organization or group. We examine individual needs, group issues, current changes (e.g. mergers, new leadership) in order to customize the workshop content to the challenges your department or organization is facing today.

Workshop Customization: Once your organizations’ needs are identified and prioritized, our consultants will work closely with you to customize a program that addresses you needs in the context of your organizations’ climate. An essential component of our program is that we not only address the right topics, but the methods we use fit your culture and the styles of the people involved.

Implementation: We use a mixture of informational and interactive methods to access participants with diverse learning styles. Workshops can range from 2-hours to 4 days, and may be off-site or on-site depending on the feasibility of each for your group. The precise methods, agenda, length and location will be customized to suit each situation. All workshops are facilitated by at least one Ph.D.-level consultant.

Evaluation: Immediately after the workshop, we use our Participant Attitudes and Reactions survey (PAR) to assess workshop participants reactions, learning, and likelihood of transfer. This standardized evaluation tool goes well beyond the typical “smiley” form given post-training to provide a clear indication of how beneficial the workshop is likely to be for improving employee competencies. Additionally, we can provide a 6 or 10-week follow up assessment to determine the extent to which the knowledge and skills have been retained and applied on the job.
